ASRS for Portucel, Portugal

In January 2008, the Protucel Soporcel group has awarded an order to Efacec for the project, supply and erection, on a turn-key base, of paper rolls automated warehouse and pallets automated warehouse, for a total amount of 20 million euros.

This order, the greatest ever won by Efacec Automação e Robótica, is very important for its business growth, especially in the field of paper mills considered as one of the company's strategic targets.

The secret of the Efacec success in this call for bid procedure was the technological differentiation and innovative solutions submitted, able to demonstrate:

An innovative project base on satellite vehicles which enable to group and store            paper rolls with different shapes and weight up to 6 tons automatically.

In the pallet warehouse, a considerable number of solutions were developed which enable to handle tens of different types of pallets without being necessary to use any physical support or slave pallet.

The automated handling and warehousing systems are prepared to received a maximum of 186 paper rolls and 215 pallets per hour and deliver simultaneously ( at cutting equipment and forwarding) a maximum of 164 rolls and 320 pallets per hour. This maximum capacity can be sustained continuously.

The warehousing and handling concepts propose are the consequences of large analysis carried out about the paper industry needs which demonstrate Efacec Automação e Robótica focus on the development of innovative solutions which match clients' needs.
